Antonio Conte remains the number one candidate to replace Luciano Spalletti as Inter boss next season, La Repubblica reported today.

Conte will soon be free to sign for another club when his legal dispute with Chelsea ends, with a Premier League arbitration panel expected to produce a final verdict in the next two weeks.

Juventus, Milan and Roma have all considered making an offer for the Italian, who won the Scudetto in all three of his seasons at Juventus, with Bayern Munich also said to be interested abroad.

However, the Turin-based paper said Inter remains a distinct possibility for Conte following the arrival of Beppe Marotta as the club’s new CEO, provided the Nerazzurri secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

“Suning are ahead of everyone else at the moment,” La Repubblica claimed.

“Marotta shared plenty of successes with Conte at Juventus and has had a few conversations with him since arriving in Milan.

“Conte is currently the ‘hottest’ name as Inter search for a new coach next season.”

Luciano Spalletti is expected to leave the club in the summer with Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic also likely to depart.
