Pirelli chief executive and Inter supporter Marco Tronchetti Provera refused to comment today on rumours linking Jose Mourinho with a return to Inter next season.

Mourinho is searching for a new club after being sacked by Manchester United in December and missing out on the chance to replace Santiago Solari at Real Madrid.

Inter have been linked with a possible move for the Portuguese coach, who secured the club’s only ever Triplete in 2010, but Tronchetti Provera preferred not to be drawn on the matter.

“Mourinho helped us in a peculiar season where there was complete harmony between him and the club,” he told reporters at an event in Milan.

“If I said something about the possibility of him returning I’d only cause trouble.”

Tronchetti Provera then returned to comments he had made earlier in the day about Inter and Milan’s plans to demolish San Siro, urging the club he supports to stay put.

“I’d prefer it if Inter stayed at San Siro and Milan moved to another stadium,” he added.

“The ideal scenario would be to have two stadiums for the Milan clubs so we could preserve San Siro.

“It’s a place where I’ve experienced all kinds of emotion for 60 years, but its history makes it special for whoever loves football.”
