Inter legend Tarcisio Burgnich has spoken with FCInter1908.it to explain what he thinks is wrong with the current crop of players at Inter.

“This is a team where everyone takes to the field and thinks only about themselves. So long as this goes on, the results will not come,” he began.

“It is a mentality problem, which derives from the fact that there is no compact group. The locker room is full of quarrels. There is no friendship between the players, and without that you get nowhere.

“Marotta should try to create a clean, healthy environment for people who go onto the field with enthusiasm. Where is the enthusiasm if you continue to have problems?”

“Do I want a clear out in the Summer? Yes. All the problems that exist now must be solved and a healthy group, made up of motivated players who want to get results needs to be built.

Burgnich then spoke on Mauro Icardi.

“If Helenio Herrera was in charge, do you know where Icardi would be now? At home. There must be the desire to be together but every day there is a mess at Inter. There is a player who does not want to play and creates problems because they took away the armband.

“There is always time fix things. There are still many league matches to be played but it is important to resolve this situation as soon as possible. Only by doing this will Inter manage to finish in the top four.”

He then spoke on the future of Luciano Spalletti at the club.

“I certainly don’t want to send anyone away but even Antonio Conte would struggle with this group. In any case, whoever is appointed needs to be a very capable coach in order to lead Inter to victory.”

He concluded the interview giving his verdict on the ongoing debate about the future of San Siro.

“I don’t know why they want to knock it down. It would be better if they tried to improve it, they would also spend less money.”
