Former Inter manager and current Italian national team manager has shared his thoughts on the recent controversy between Inter and Mauro Icardi.

“I am sorry about the situation that has arisen around Mauro because I know him as both a man and as a player. It is always unpleasant when these things happen because everyone loses out,” he explained to reporters having won the Enzo Bearzot award.

He then shared his opinion on the race for the Champions League in which he indirectly confirmed his belief that Inter will qualify for the second year running.

“I believe that all the teams that are between fourth and eighth place can believe that they can finish in the last qualification place.”

He concluded by sharing his opinion on Juventus’ recent domestic dominance.

“We are talking about a very strong team that has been winning for many years. They have been built very well, signed very good players and improve every year. This should not be allowed to happen but I think that with some times, other clubs can come closer to them.”
