Alessandro Altobelli has spoken on the possible reception that Inter striker Mauro Icardi could receive with him set to make his first appearance at San Siro in over two months.

“The book that Mauro wrote a few years ago created the split with the ultras, let’s not forget that. So even before today, playing at Meazza he knew he would find a particular atmosphere. This situation has always turned into a stimulus,” Altobelli said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The relationship with the fans has worsened and he could be whistled in the stadium. Mauro is a cold character, almost glacial: this makes him stronger, it is an advantage for him.

“The game is very important in the race for the Champions League and for Inter’s sake I hope the fans support him. Players and coaches pass, but Inter remains.”

Altobelli concluded: “Icardi is one of the 3-4 strongest strikers in the world, he is a real killer in the box. So let’s use him.”
