In an interview with Inter TV, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti reflected on the Nerazzurri’s performance in the 0-0 draw with Atalanta but firstly spoke on the league table.

“It is unpredictable. Now the time has come where teams are fighting to save themselves so when you go to face those teams it becomes hard. There is still a lot of the league season to be played,” he began.

“This performance from the team bodes well for me. They placed with ferocity and the fans enjoyed watching it. We often lost the ball when we tried to force play instead of trying to keep things together. At times we played too fast and took too few touches but if you take the time to have more touches, things can be solved.”

He was then asked if he thinks Lautaro Martinez and Stefan de Vrij will return from injury for next weekend’s match against Frosinone and Marcelo Brozovic, who looks set to miss the match through injury.

“We have to recover these players because as you can see then something always happens. If we have more players available then it becomes easy to make substitutions that can change the game. Lautaro and de Vrij should recover in time.

“Brozovic knows how to give order in the middle of the field. It is clear that players who play in specific roles are important and therefore this is why it is difficult to find someone like Brozovic.”
