Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta was among the top 100 paid executives of companies listed on the Piazza Affari, the Italian stock exchange, in 2018 according to a report from Italian financial newspaper Milano Finanza.

Marotta earned a base salary of €5.5 million (a 109.7% increase on what he earned the previous year) in the last calendar year and pocketed some €3.5 million in bonuses from Juventus, who he left to join Inter at the tail end of last year.

The 62-year-old ranked fifth overall with Fedele Confalonieri, the president of broadcaster Mediaset, leading the way with a base salary of €9.5 million, almost €2 million more than second place. Giovanni Tamburi, the president and chief executive of Tip and Massimo Della Porta, the president of Saes Getters, ranked second and third with salaries of €7.7 million and €7 million respectively.

Former Roma sporting director Monchi is also on the list as is former Juventus executive Aldo Mazzia.
