After a hectic start, both teams decided to settle down and wait for each other to make some mistakes or chance their luck. What usually happens then is that the game becomes too safe and too boring. Gasperini’s men stayed safe in 5th place and Inter consolidated their lead over 4th place Milan.

Samir Handanovic – 6 : Barely had anything to do. Atalanta didn’t even get a single shot on target. A couple of easy catches here and there. Kept possession.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Could have been the hero if he got that second half header right. Made a couple of minor mistakes but overall did what Spalletti asked him to in defence.

Joao Miranda – 7: When you play with Skriniar you fight a losing battle to be the best defender on the pitch. Not this time. Miranda was calm and collected throughout.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Not his finest game. Yes Inter managed to stop the league’s most potent attack but Illicic ran rings around Skriniar. Just showing that he is indeed human.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6: Had a lot of the ball, had a lot of space but never managed to pose a danger to Atalanta. His first accurate cross came in the 80th minute. Too timid.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Great start, helped boss the midfield, but once Brozovic had to come off due to injury he had to work harder in possession and it was downhill then.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: Hopefully its not a serious injury and he will be back soon. Otherwise, Inter will struggle to create as they did for long periods. Get well soon Epic man.

Matteo Politano – 5. : Seems to do nothing with so much time and possession of the ball. Too much effort for too little reward. Didn’t get a single good cross in all game.

Matias Vecino – 7.5: Vecino looks amazing in the trequartista role. Got behind Atalanta’s defence too many times and unlucky to not score or have an assist. In good form.

Ivan Perisic – 5: 90 minutes of misery for Ivan. His touch was poor. Inexplicably took some free kicks with his weaker left foot. Surely has regressed as a footballer.

Mauro Icardi – 5: Inter could be well clear in the Champions League race if he had taken his chance. Tried some clever flick-ons that looked promising but nothing else.

Radja Nainggolan – 5.5: There is no way Radja was fit for this game. Looked tired from the moment he came on. Didn’t chase back or show the grinta he is famous for. Poor.

Borja Valero – 6.5: Inter’s best sub and helped  the team retake control of the possession from the moment he came on. Made the ball tick, made the moves click. Not bad for 34 year old.

Keita Balde – 5: Missed his chance for Keita to grab a spot on the team. He conceded a couple of stupid fouls and made poor passes when in attack. Out of form.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: Shouldn’t have brought on an unfit Radja. Then waited too long to bring on Borja Valero. The overall mood of the team was negative towards the end.

Massimiliano Irrati – 6: Fell too easily for Atalanta’s tricks. No major decisions to make. Fairly simple game to referee and he did a decent job of it. Kept control of it.

Inter – 5: Had a major chance to virtually seal a coveted Champions League spot quick and easy. But Inter don’t do things quick and easy but things have to always be at last gasp.

Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
