In an interview with Voetbal Inside, a Dutch football talk show, former Inter midfielder Andy Van der Meyde revealed an anecdote about Edgar Davids and Roberto Mancini.

“At Inter you have to go to the hotel the day before the game, so you do not do anything for a day. Only at the stadium do you know who is in the stands and who is on the bench,” he began.

“Edgar had to go to the stands once, so he told Mancini: “Leave me at home next time, so I can train.” The next game he was back in the stands again. The following day Mancini took part in the training. He distributed the shirts and I was on a team with Edgar, while Mancini was on the other team. Davids turned him inside out and I have never heard a manager scream so loud, Mancini limped off of the field.”
