Former Inter striker Hernan Crespo has appeared to back Inter’s decision in recent months to remove Mauro Icardi as the club captain.

“The fact that he is a serious and great professional player cannot be disputed but his off-field appearance can be. If you can not manager your life off of the pitch, you can not manage a dressing room,” Crespo remarked in an interview with Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The Argentine, who also played for Milan, shared his hopes for the Milanese clubs Champions League qualification ambitions.

“Milan is not in a very different situation from Roma, Lazio and Atalanta. I do not think that the current ranking of the top four will change come the end of the season though. I am confident that both of the Milanese clubs can qualify for the Champions League.”

Crespo, who is currently the manager of Banfield, made 156 appearances between Inter and Milan in which he scored a combined 62 goals.
