In an interview with Fox Sports, former Inter striker Julio Cruz spoke on former Nerazzurri teammate Adriano and how the death of the Brazilian’s father affected him.

“He was an excellent boy and he still his,” Cruz began the interview with the Argentine broadcaster.

“While he was going through his best period on the field, he had a family disaster as his father died. After that we all realised that he had changed.

“The Inter psychologist said he needed a father figure in his life because he did not have one anymore. We all tried to help him, but then he left the club.”

He concluded by sharing his thoughts on Adriano leaving: “It was wrong for him to leave as the coach already said to him to stay put.”

Adriano spent six years at Inter and made 177 appearances across all competitions in which he scored 74 goals and tallied 21 assists.
