Today the decision is expected to be made, whether or not Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic will be suspended after his challenge on Alessio Romagnoli during the game against AC Milan.

The incident was missed by both the referee and the VAR but has since been brought to light according to Milano based newspaper Gazzeta dello Sport.

“The federal attorney is asking for the Croatian to be suspended due to ‘serious violent conduct’ and that is the charge that could trigger the sanction.”

It must be noted that if Mandzukic were to be suspended, he is likely to serve a three match ban, which would mean that he would also miss Juventus away game in the Serie A against Inter on April 27th.

“The sanction will be triggered only if the images clearly show a ‘particularly serious gesture’. The suspension is a serious one as unsportsmanlike conduct is punished with a two game ban, violent conduct with a three game ban, and excessively violent conduct can be punished with a four game ban.”
