It seems Inter have decided to turn the page on the entire Mauro Icardi era, at least according to Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report today that the Nerazzurri will sell their former captain this summer, with Atletico Madrid expressing a strong interest in the Argentinian striker.
According to the report, should the idea of working with Juventus to swap Icardi for Paulo Dybala to fail, then the club’s next move would be to work with Diego Simeone’s Atletico, who are to keep Alvaro Morata but risk losing Griezmann and Costa.
Simeone has been clear with the club’s management, he wants Mauro Icardi. It’s believed that Atletico have already contacted Wanda Icardi, and she reacted positively to the move but one big obstacle remains and that is the price tag.
According to Corriere della Sera, Inter are prepared to accept an offer of €75 million for the player who currently earns €5 million per season, which would increase to €7 plus bonuses. This is an increase that Inter themselves were trying to negotiate with their captain but were unable to conclude.
With the money Inter were to receive for Icardi, the club would then look to buy a new striker with the two most likely names being discussed are Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic.
