Inter appear ready to go back in for Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan according to a report from Tuttosport.

Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio was present at last night’s Champions League game between Tottenham Hotspur and City to take a closer look at the German, who Inter made an enquiry for last Summer.

Last Summer any potential move was aborted due to the astronomical figures that it would have taken but now, almost a year on, things have changed.

Gundogan’s contract is due to expire in little over a year with the Etihad Stadium club and with this in mind, City could be open to selling the 28-year-old to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing if he does not wish to prolong his stay in Manchester.

He currently earns an annual salary of €8 million per season but Inter, as per the report, are willing to sacrifice wage structure because they believe his, and other high earning players arrivals, can increase the level of the whole team. This policy has already been witnessed with the signing of Diego Godin, who will earn €6.5 million a year.
