As per a report from Tuttosport, Ilkay Gunodgan has now overtaken Ivan Rakitic as Inter’s top transfer target for the midfield for the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Inter’s sporting director has spent the past few days in England where he has taken in Tottenham Hotspur versus Manchester City and Manchester United versus Barcelona which enabled him to take a closer look at City’s Gundogan and Barca’s Rakitic.

Gundogan is now ahead due not wanting to extend his contract with City unlike Rakitic, whose desire to prolong his stay at the Nou Camp has been well documented.

The German midfielder’s contract with City is due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 campaign and City, knowing that Gundogan will not sign a new contract, will in all likelihood look to sell in the Summer to avoid losing him for nothing.

The Turin based newspaper also report that Inter are keen on bringing in Manchester United full back Matteo Darmian.
