Inter boss Luciano Spalletti remains undecided on whether to start Mauro Icardi or Lautaro Martinez in attack against Frosinone on Sunday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported today.
Icardi started both of Inter’s last two matches since returning to the side after being stripped of the captaincy in February, but Lautaro was not available for either game due to a thigh injury.
El Toro is thought to have the edge as far as this weekend’s match is concerned, but Spalletti faces a tough call with matches against Roma and Juventus on the horizon.
“Lautaro doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs but he could play a good chunk of the match,” Gazzetta said.
“Whether that will be the first or second half is up to Spalletti.
“The other issue to consider is the risk of suspension if he picks up another booking: the Roma match is next and it’s the most important one in this run of games, so Spalletti may wish to preserve him for that.
“Icardi could therefore start in this game before making way for Lautaro, but that would make the hierarchy in attack even less clear…”
