Inter are considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Xhaka, 26, joined Arsenal in a deal worth £35 million in 2016 and has since made 126 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 14 assists.

His contract with the Gunners runs until 2023 but Piero Ausilio has identified the Swiss international as a potential reinforcement in midfield, where Inter will look to make big changes this summer.

“Xhaka would not come cheap, considering the length of his current deal, his wages and the fee Arsenal paid to sign him,” Corriere dello Sport explained.

“However, he’s a player to keep an eye on, not least because of his relatively young age (26).”

Inter would like to sign two midfielders ahead of next season and are also monitoring Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella.

Both would be highly costly options, though, with Inter hoping to reduce Barella’s €45 million price tag by inserting youth players in any deal.

Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini is another player being monitored, who could be pursued if Roberto Gagliardini were to be sold.

Toni Kroos, Ivan Rakitic and Tanguy Ndombele remain more difficult targets.
