Inter reportedly already have a deal in principle with former Italian national team manager Antonio Conte to become the new Inter manager but even despite this, Conte’s arrival can not be considered a certainty as per a report from Rome based newspaper La Repubblica.
This is because at the moment there is no guarantee that Inter will part ways with current manager Luciano Spalletti, who is understood to have very strong support from parts of the Inter dressing room.
Radja Nainggolan, Matteo Politano and Samir Handanovic have all voiced their support for Spalletti lately and come to his defence when he has come under fire and stressed his merits.
If Spalletti is to guide Inter to a third place finish in Serie A, a place higher than last season, it will make it difficult for the Inter leadership to sack a manager who has made an improvement on the previous year.
