Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera have examined the future of current Inter manager Luciano Spalletti at the club amid continued media speculation about possible successors.
“The rumours of Antonio Conte’s arrival are insistent. The current Nerazzurri coach is not moved though, he has more than a chance to remain on the bench and not only because of his €5 million a year contract which was renewed last summer until June 2021.
“Inter are performing their evaluations but no decision has been taken, Spalletti is not out and he knows it.
“The leadership had set qualification to the Champions League as its goal and that is the insurance policy which Spalletti will aim for.”
Should Spalletti lead Inter to a third placed finish, Spalletti will also be in a strong position to fight his case when faced with a possible sacking, the report goes on.
“He will argue how he has managed to improve the team from fourth to third and how he achieved this despite the Icardi situation, the multiple injuries to Nainggolan and the Perisic situation.”
