Given the events of the past four months, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti feels stronger, at least, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Inter boss has had to deal with the Radja Nainggolan situation that saw Nainggolan suspended and fined and then had to deal with the Mauro Icardi situation where the Argentine striker did not play for the best part of two months.

If he can lead Inter to a third placed finish, the Milan based newspaper suggest that he will further strengthen his position at the club, especially if he can match last year’s points total or even beat it. In order to match last years total Inter need to win at least five of their remaining seven games.

Moreover, the report goes on to state that due to the length left on his contract, he finds himself in quite a strong position as it would cost Inter €25 million to sack him and all his staff.

Gazzetta go on to add that Maurizio Sarri, who is facing an uncertain future as Chelsea boss, has been looked at as a potential successor to Spalletti.
