Ilkay Gundogan has requested guarantees over regular playing time at Manchester City otherwise he will not put pen to paper on a new contract according to a report from British newspaper The Sun.

The German midfielder, who has come into links with Inter and Real Madrid lately, has little over a year left to run on his current deal with the Etihad Stadium outfit.

As per the report, City have grand plans for the transfer market when it comes to the midfield with them wanting Ruben Neves, Rodri, Saul Niguez and Tanguy Ndombele among others. Should one or more of those four arrive, Gundogan’s playing time in Pep Guardiola’s side would almost certainly take a hit.

The 28-year-old former Borussia Dortmund man has been near ever present for City this season having made 43 appearances across all competitions. In 2775 minutes on the park, he has scored five goals and tallied seven assists.
