Potential season deciding match. To say those words seems hyperbolic but that’s exactly what this weekend’s match against Roma could be, a season deciding match.

Inter currently hold a 6 point lead over 5th place Roma going into this clash. Elsewhere, 6th place Atalanta (who trail Inter by 7 points) face their own tough matchup against 2nd place Napoli.

Should Inter and Napoli win, Inter could comfortably be in the driver seat with at least a 9 point with 5 matches to finish the season. The pressure is undoubtedly on and it’s time to see the squad’s mettle as fans remain desperate to return to Champions League next season.

Upcoming Matches:

Inter vs AS Roma, Saturday April 20th, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, kickoff 20:30 CET

First Team Fitness:

Lautaro Martinez: The young Argentinian striker missed 2 matches due to a muscle injury and was on the bench against Frosinone but didn’t see the pitch. Whether Spalletti simply didn’t want to risk reinjury going into the final stretch or he is now has lost the starting spot to Mauro Icardi is anyone’s guess, though I tend to believe it’s the former. Martinez will be available for selection once again this weekend.

Marcelo Brozovic: The central midfielder suffered a thigh injury a few weeks back and is still set to be sidelined for another 2 weeks. While the team didn’t miss him against a relegation side like Frosinone, his absence could be felt this week in a crucial battle.

Borja Valero: There were fears the veteran midfielder suffered a muscular injury in the match against Frosinone last weekend but recent tests have come back negative for an injury. Valero started in place of the injured Brozovic last weekend and could see the start once again. However, after making an error that led to a Frosinone goal his selection for the starting XI could be in jeopardy.

AS Roma Fitness:

Daniele De Rossi: While the Roma captain hasn’t featured as much this season as he used to in years past, he still is a major figure for the team’s midfield. However, due to a hamstring injury sustained last weekend, he’s set to be sidelined for several weeks. His absence will be huge for Inter and could be a major factor in the upcoming match.
