Inter owned Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa continues to be a big success in Brazil at Flamengo, following becoming the Brazilian league’s top goalscorer last season with Santos.

Gabigol, as he is nicknamed, has scored 7 goals in 12 matches in the league as well as 2 goals in 3 matches in the Copa Libertadores.

This has prompted Inter to hope to be able to earn back some of the €30 million the Nerazzurri spent on the player, by selling him to a team in Europe, Turin based Tuttosport report.

According to the report: “Inter hope that Gabigol’s latest success could reignite the attention of club’s on the transfer window. Before sending him on loan this past January, Gabigol signed a contract extension with the Nerazzurri, keeping him tied to the club until the end of June 2022. This was made in order to be able to ask for a higher transfer fee.”

“Gabigol’s loan deal with Flamengo expires at the end of December 2019, but Inter have reserved the right to be able to terminate the deal sooner, should an offer arrive that the club deem acceptable. Inter value the player at around €20 million, a sum which would allow Inter to record a capital gain of €5 million on this seasons balance sheet given that the player is currently listed as a €15 million expenditure.”
