Spalletti ‘s Record Against Juventus Does Not Offer Much Comfort For Inter

This Saturday, Inter face the Italian Champions of the 2018/19 season at the San Siro for what is still an important fixture, for both Inter’s aim of qualifying for the Champions League and for the pride that comes with winning the Derby d’Italia.

Unfortunately for Inter fans, Juventus are a sort of taboo for coach Luciano Spalletti. The Tuscan coach has faced the Bianconeri 26 times as a coach and has recorded 20 losses, 4 draws and only 2 wins, averaging 0.38 points per game.

Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reflects on this in today’s paper.

“Last year’s 3-2 defeat still burns the hearts of every Inter fan, as it almost cost Inter their Champions League spot. Spalletti’s only success against Juventus in the league came on May 14th 2017, when Roma delayed Juventus’s title hopes by one more week, beating Allegri’s team 3-1. Even though Roma were unable to translate this into a Scudetto, it did secure their position in second place, which back then the last spot qualifying teams into the group stages of the Champions League.”
