Inter are seemingly set to pip Manchester City to the signing of Agustin Almendra according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has been on the trail of the Boca Juniors youngster for some time now and he has devised a strategy to sign him for less than his €20 million release clause.

As per the report, Inter would be open to loaning the 19-year-old back to the Argentine giants upon purchasing him and they have a clear advantage in the race to sign him which also includes fellow Italian clubs Juventus and Napoli.

This season Almendra has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Boca, the majority of which as a traditional central midfielder.

In 1147 minutes on the park, the Argentine youth international, who can also play out on the right or as an attacking midfielder, has scored one goal and has also notched a single assist.
