Massimo Moratti was at an event at Ponte Lambro where Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport were able to ask him a few questions regarding Inter, their current situation, and the upcoming game against Juventus.
President Moratti, is it an advantage for Inter that Juventus have already secured the title?
“Absolutely not, they will still want to prove that they are the strongest team. I expect 90 minutes of fighting. Inter will have to play very well to win the game.”
How can the gap between Inter and Juventus be reduced?
“It often seems a lot further away than it really is. Yes it’s true that they have been winning for so many years, but Inter is not that far away. There is not much missing for Inter to reach them. When the club has finished ironing out all the little details, they will do great things.”
What about Marotta? Is he added value?
“The presence of Marotta is fundamental. His arrival confirms that there are excellent foundations for building an important future. His career speaks for itself.”
As president, how would you handle the Icardi situation?
“Honestly, I would have tried to do something different. It seems to me that a little too much has been said about the whole situation, but that’s how things have gone and now this must be accepted.”
Meanwhile there are talks about Conte and Mourinho.
“This is an issue that Inter will have to deal with and I do not wish to get into. I will only say that Spalletti is a very good coach, he is someone who has the talent and abilities.”
What about the Meazza? There are talks of it being demolished.
“This would be too much. We are talking about a symbol in world football where we spent wonderful times and won a lot. These are situations that concern Inter, Milan, and the city.”
Before closing, do you want to talk about a ‘Moratti signing’?
“There would only be one, but this doesn’t mean that there’s anything behind it. If it were possible, I would go strong for Mbappe. He is my favorite, and today there is nobody like him.”
