Should Luciano Spalletti manage Inter to a second consecutive season including Champions League qualification he will be kept in charge according to a report from Sky Sport.
For months now his future has seemed up in the air and media speculation has been rife regarding potential successors but as per the broadcaster, Inter’s owners Suning will honour Spalletti’s contract if he achieves qualification to European football’s top tournament.
They are against the idea of sacking him due to the finances involved with Sky reporting it could cost as much as €28 million to punt him and all his staff. Once sacked, Inter would then need to bring in a new coach which would require yet more money.
The report goes on to discuss Antonio Conte’s candidacy as a potential successor. The former Chelsea manager has perhaps been the heaviest linked but has now set his sights on a return to former club Juventus. For this reason, the Inter leadership are not so keen on bringing him in if they need to find a new manager.
