Inter boss Luciano Spalletti would not have a problem with Mauro Icardi joining Juventus in the summer, Tuttosport reported today.
Icardi is expected to be left on the bench in favour of Lautaro Martinez for tonight’s Derby d’Italia at San Siro, having already been left out of last weekend’s clash with Roma.
Spalletti is angry about Icardi’s conduct in the two months following his dethroning as Inter captain and offered a cryptic response when asked yesterday if it would annoy him to see the Argentine join the Bianconeri.
“Ultimately I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season and there aren’t many things which annoy me,” Spalletti told reporters in his pre-match press conference.
“The things that annoy me are even more annoying for the people who are directly involved, so I’m fairly relaxed.”
Tuttosport interpreted Spalletti’s comments as an indirect criticism of Icardi, but added that Mauro and wife Wanda Nara remain eager to stay at the club next season.
“It was as if Spalletti said: ‘Icardi moving to Juventus wouldn’t annoy me, it’s what Icardi has done here at Inter which has annoyed me’,” they reported.
“That’s what Icardi is paying for at the moment – but he would give anything for a goal this evening, because Mauro, as Wanda Nara has said on his behalf, continues to want to stay.”
