Corriere della Sera have taken a look at what Radja Nainggolan’s goal in last night’s Derby D’Italia means for him in what has been a season disrupted by injury and off-field controversies.

“The Ninja’s goal is one of liberation, or perhaps revenge for him and Luciano Spalletti, who wanted to bring him to the club at all costs,” the report begins.

“The Nerazzurri midfielder has been sidelined by four injuries this season, the first of which came during the pre-season retreat.  There was then the partying incident after which he returned and picked up another injury problem. He was then fined €100,000 over Christmas for turning up to training late.

“Audio files came out wherein Nainggolan claimed he wanted to go back to Roma but everything has changed and he has not given up.”

It concludes: “Last night he punished his greatest enemy with a spectacular strike from outside the box, his fifth league goal of the season which could go a long way toward cancelling out the regrets of letting Nicolo Zaniolo leave.”
