Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan international central defender Diego Godin, turned down a rather lucrative offer of a contract extension from the club, that would have seen him earn €7 million net per season, according to Spanish media outlet Cadena Cope.
According to the report, the Los Colchoneros offered him a two year extension deal where he would earn a total of €14 million net, by the time the contract would have expired at the end of June 2021.
Instead Godin, opted for Inter’s offer of €6,75 million per season, which is an increase of 35% to his current deal and slightly less than Atletico Madrid’s extension offer, but the Nerazzurri offered a three year deal, 12 months longer than what the La Liga side were prepared to offer Godin.
In conclusion, according to the report, Godin’s entourage are currently looking to find a home for the Uruguayan stopper and his family in Milano.
