Matias Vecino will be ready to return for Inter when they face Chievo next weekend as his thigh injury is not serious, Gazzetta dello Sport reported today.
Vecino will miss this evening’s trip to play Udinese after picking up a muscular strain in training yesterday, making Roberto Gagliardini favourite to start at the Dacia Arena.
However, the Uruguayan has only been left out of the squad as a precautionary measure and is due to be back for the clash with the Flying Donkeys on 13 May.
“The man who secured Inter’s qualification for the Champions League last season will not be available for the match which could push them towards Europe’s top club competition again,” Gazzetta said.
“The injury is nothing serious but in these instances it’s better not to take any risks. Vecino will return to Appiano Gentile today and begin his program of work to be back for the Chievo game.”
Inter will all but secure a top four finish in Serie A with a win over Igor Tudor’s side tonight.
