Stefan de Vrij spoke with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport in order to share his thoughts and feelings on Inter’s performance in their 0-0 draw away to Udinese on Saturday night.

The Dutchman firstly thanked his teammates who helped the defence record yet another clean sheet this term.

“We defenders feel safe thanks to the players in front of us who give us a hand. I feel good with my teammates in defence, we talk a lot. Today we faced a very strong team on the counterattack, they showed it a couple of times, so we must always be ready,” he said.

He then shared his disappointment with the result.

“We are sorry for the result because we wanted the victory and unfortunately we could not score any goals. Today we did well, we didn’t have much to do in terms of defending other than a couple of counterattacks, but the performance wasn’t bad.”

He concluded: “There is still so much to improve as a team, when to press, when to stay together etc. Sometimes we suffer on counterattacks and leave spaces so communication is important there.”
