Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport analyses Inter’s bench in today’s paper edition of the newspaper after the draw against Udinese on the weekend.

According to the report: “Despite the prospect of securing Champions League for the second consecutive year, the gap to those above and the struggle to maintain their advantage to those below, shows a defect in the group’s personality. Spalletti’s decision to play substitute Candreva and Keita on in the second half resulted in nothing, despite the clear physical difficulties that Tudor’s men were experiencing.”

“These are not the only flops from off of Inter’s bench this season. Cedric, who will play on Monday against Chievo, due to the suspension of D’Ambrosio, has been at the club since January and failed to convince Spalletti. Borja Valero has proven himself useful but almost always just when he comes off the bench to change the tempo and hold possession.”

“Gagliardini has never been a first choice for Spalletti and Joao Mario made his return but then suddenly disappeared back into the shadows. Then there is Dalbert, who Spalletti assured that with time could emulate Roberto Carlos, but has just played four games as a starter.”

Finally, there is Spalletti himself according to the Gazzetta: “While it seems in the best interest of Inter to change coach, his contract makes it extremely difficult. Even with Champions League qualification, this failure is considered a failure but Zhang must be willing to swallow the financial sacrifice to bring in Conte, as well as sack Spalletti, who will not back away mutually.”
