Inter have reached an agreement in principle with Antonio Conte to succeed Luciano Spalletti as manager of the club according to a report from Sport Mediaset.

An agreement has been reached on the basis of a three year deal worth €9 million a season to former Italian national team boss Conte, who has been out of work since last Summer.

The difficulties in recent weeks are understood to have pushed the Inter leadership into making the decision that a coaching change is the best way forward.

The report from the broadcaster goes on to detail that Conte’s primary transfer target when it comes to the attack is Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku could arrive at Inter as part of a deal that would see winger Ivan Perisic go the other way and he may not be the only United player headed for Inter with Inter also keeping tabs on Matteo Darmian.

Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata and Roma’s Edin Dzeko are the alternatives to the 25-year-old Belgian forward.
