According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona are attempting to push midfielder Ivan Rakitic toward the exit door.

This will no doubt come as good news to Inter who have long courted the Croatian with a view to signing him from the Spanish giants this Summer.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde deems Rakitic as a crucial player to his plans but after the Champions League exit to Liverpool, his position in charge is no longer so secure.

In wake of the Champions League disappointment, Rakitic travelled to Sevilla to take part in their annual festival and was pictured smiling with Sevilla’s president’s son, something that angered the Barcelona support but is understood to have left Barcelona’s leaders smiling as it helps them in their bid to push him out.

As per various other reports, an agreement between Inter and Barcelona over the player is imminent as is an agreement between the Nerazzurri and Rakitic over personal terms.

Gazzetta believe that it could take around €50 million for Inter to secure Rakitic’s signature which, “in these days would be a great deal.”

Rakitic has been with Barcelona since 2014 and his contract is due to expire in 2021. This season the 31-year-old has made 51 appearances scoring five goals and tallying nine assists.
