Mauro Icardi will get the nod ahead of Lautaro Martinez to lead the Inter attacking line in Monday night’s match with Chievo Verona, at least according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old Argentine is seemingly regarded as the back-up option to Lautaro Martinez now but after Martinez’s recent struggles in front of goal, it can be presumed this is the reason why Icardi is starting.
This will not be the only change manager Luciano Spalletti will make to the team that started in last weekend’s goalless draw away to Udinese.
With Danilo D’Ambrosio and Stefan de Vrij to miss out in defence, Cedric Soares and Miranda will come in to replace them.
In midfield, Roberto Gagliardini will come in for the suspended Marcelo Brozovic.
The rest of the team will otherwise be unchanged.
