Inter president Steven Zhang is expected to return from his trip to his native China today and will give the green light to Inter’s pursuit of Antonio Conte according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri have been courting Conte for some time now with a view to him becoming the next manager but due to Zhang’s absence, the club have only been able to progress so far.
With Zhang giving the final go-ahead, it confirms it is the end of the road for current manager Luciano Spalletti but before he is removed, there is Champions League qualification to secure.
Should Spalletti lead Inter to the Champions League it will be the first time in six years that Inter have qualified for European football’s premier continental competition in consecutive seasons.
The Rome based newspaper also report that Zhang will be in attendance tomorrow night as Inter take on Chievo Verona at San Siro, with 55,000 tickets already snapped up by supporters for the game.
