Mateo Kovacic wishes to continue on with Chelsea past the expiration of his loan deal according to a report from AS.

The Croatian midfielder is on loan at the Blues from Spanish giants Real Madrid and his future seemingly lies far away from the Santiago Bernabeu with manager Zinedine Zidane understood to not be a fan of him.

Chelsea have 49 days therefore to submit an offer to Los Blancos for Kovacic before their transfer ban kicks in which would deny them the possibility to land him.

The Spanish based newspaper report that he could even end up returning to Inter in the Summer too. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has never lost sight of the 25-year-old, who spent two and a half years at the club between 2013 and 2015.

This season Kovacic has made no less than 49 appearances across all competitions for the London club. In just shy of 3000 minutes, he has tallied two assists.
