Journalist Fabio Caressa has revealed that prior to joining Inter, manager Luciano Spalletti was close to joining Juventus.

“I will throw it out there now, Spalletti had been close to joining Juve before going to Inter,” Caressa claimed as he appeared as a guest on Sky Sport Calcio Club.

“There had been a meeting between them, but then he went onto join the Nerazzurri instead.”

Rumours about Spalletti’s future in charge of Inter continue to persist with it being widely reported that Inter already have an agreement in place with Antonio Conte to come in and replace Spalletti come the end of the season.

Spalletti took up his current position ahead of the 2017/18 campaign having led Roma to a historic points total in the previous season.

In his debut campaign in charge, he led Inter to Champions League qualification for the first time in a number of years and he is on course to qualify Inter for the second consecutive season.
