Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan has shared his disappointment at how his debut campaign in Nerazzurri has went but has targeted having a better season next season.

“I was hoping that I could’ve done more for the team this season, but the team have done well, and we are close to our objective of qualifying for next season’s Champions League,” he began an interview with Het Nieuwsblad in his native Belgium.

He has a number of well documented injury issues throughout the campaign but he is confident next season will not be as full of injuries.

“I always feel young and strong, but the injury I had at the start of the season has affected me throughout the campaign.

“I’m not 20 anymore but I still feel young and anyone at Inter can attest to it. I am the first to joke and try to maintain a playful atmosphere in the group.

“In the middle of the season I changed my training program, among other things.Speaking with the coach, I decided to train on rest days. That way I lost a few pounds and my legs got stronger. The combination of these two factors should ensure that I will not suffer injuries so quickly next season.”

Having swapped the city of Rome for Milan last Summer, he briefly spoke on the differences between living in each place.

“Milan is very different to Rome. I can walk quietly down the street here, but in Rome it was impossible.”
