As time passes in the lead up to Inter’s match away to Napoli, Matteo Politano’s chances of playing a part in the game are reducing according to a report from Sky Sport.

The Italian winger picked up a knock to his ankle during Inter’s 2-0 victory over Chievo Verona on Monday night and was forced to leave the field as a result of the injury.

He trained separately to the rest of his Inter teammates today and the report from the Italian broadcaster goes on to detail that there is a good probability that Antonio Candreva will be drafted into the starting eleven to replace him for the match at the Stadio San Paolo.

Candreva is therefore in line to make his first league start since Inter’s 1-0 loss at home to Bologna at the beginning of February.

The 32-year-old winger has been limited to just nine starts over the course of the season and in 28 appearances across all competitions he has scored three goals and has as many assists.
