Inter Bound Godin: “I Will Try To Be A Good Leader & Set An Example”

Diego Godin has revealed what he is looking for when he joins his new club this Summer having recently announced his intention to leave Atletico Madrid once his contract expires at the end of the season.

As per various reports in recent weeks and months, the Uruguayan defender has already got an agreement in place to join Inter although no official announcement has been made yet and it is not expected to come until the end of the season.

“I want to continue to compete. I want to bring my experience to a new group of players and give my best,” he began an interview with Club del Deportista.

“I will try to be a good leader and set an example and I hope that people respect me for who I am. From a personal point of view, here in Spain I have always felt at home. This is mainly due to the friendships I have, the language and culture.

“Inside and outside of training, the people I made friends with gave me stability and serenity which made me happy. Football is like life, it is all about the state of mind you have.

“If you are happy and you believe in yourself, it is difficult for you to go wrong and this is what has happened to me.”
