Despite an earlier report suggesting he could have sustained an injury, Sky Sport have now confirmed that an injury was not the reason why Joao Mario stopped training today.

As per the Italian broadcaster, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti did not like the attitude of the Portuguese and he did not believe he was approaching training with the right intensity.

Spalletti sent the 26-year-old midfielder inside and is understood to have told him to come back tomorrow more motivated to train ahead of Inter’s match away to Napoli this weekend.

The Portuguese midfielder was one of the first to join the club upon Suning taking over the club from Indonesian tycoon Erick Thohir back in 2016.

In his time with the club, the former Sporting player, who is in fact Inter’s record transfer, has made 69 competitive appearances across all competitions.

22 of those appearances have come this season with him scoring once and tallying three assists in the process.
