Having tried and failed to engineer a move away to the Premier League in January, many believed Ivan Perisic would almost certainly leave Inter this Summer but Gazzetta dello Sport report that he could stay and play a key role under Antonio Conte.

A number of English clubs came knocking in January, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur and the Croatian even submitted a transfer request but due to no clubs meeting his evaluation and Inter’s failure to secure a replacement, no move took place.

Since the end of the January transfer window, Perisic has performed much more how he is expected to and the Milan based newspaper believe he could be important to incoming manager Antonio Conte. The 30-year-old could either play as a winger in Conte’s 3-4-3 system or as a wing back in his 3-5-2 system.

This season Perisic has made 43 appearances across all competitions. In almost 3500 minutes on the park, he has nine goals and eight assists to his name.
