Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have briefly looked at the situation between Luciano Spalletti and Joao Mario after the Portuguese midfielder was sent home during yesterday’s training session.

“During the morning session, Spalletti understood that things cannot go on like they were. Luciano saw Joao Mario being lazy, uninterested, and having the wrong attitude during the exercises.”

“Due to this, he decided to remove the midfielder from the field, sent him to the dressing room, and told him to come back the next day with a different attitude in front of the rest of the team.”

“This was a symbolic gesture. Inter know that they are playing for Champions League qualification for the next 180 minutes and there is no time to mess around.”

“This is a sign that Luciano Spalletti wanted to send to the entire group. This episode also does not change anything in terms of Joao Mario’s future. He is registered on Inter’s balance sheet for €16 million and Inter will not accept a lower offer for the player in order to avoid making a capital loss. Everton and Monaco seem to be the most interested clubs.”
