Two matches. One win needed. Regardless of whatever else happens around the league, Luciano Spalletti just needs to guide Inter to just one final victory to ensure a top 4 finish and a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

But it won’t be easy. Even if the Napolitani have nothing left to fight for this season, the match against second place Napoli will be difficult. And to close the season, Inter will be facing an Empoli side that could still be fighting to stave off relegation. It’ll be an interesting ride so hopefully everyone is ready for one more spin on the roller-coaster that’s been this Inter season.

Upcoming Matches:

Napoli vs Inter, Sunday May 19th, San Paolo Stadium, kickoff 20:30 CET.

Inter vs Empoli, Sunday May 26th, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, kickoff 20:30 CET.

First Team Fitness:

Stefan de Vrij: After missing last week’s match against Chievo Verona, the Dutch centerback remains on the injury list due to a thigh muscle strain suffered during the match against Udinese. Thankfully against an already relegated Chievo his presence wasn’t missed too badly though Miranda’s rust did show.

After another week’s rest there is a chance he could be named to the reserves this week against Napoli, however it remains unlikely. The team’s medical staff will likely reevaluate de Vrij in the coming days to see if he’s fit enough to be made available.

Marcelo Brozovic: After accumulating too many yellow cards, the Croatian midfielder served a suspension against Chievo last weekend. As arguably the team’s best midfielder this season, his return against Napoli will be welcomed sight. Barring any sudden injuries picked up in training, expect him to return to his starting spot on Sunday.

Matteo Politano: The Italian international winger suffered a hit to his thigh but all reports suggest that he will be fit to even start against Napoli on Sunday night.
