Inter Manager Spalletti: “We Could’ve Done More, The Match With Empoli Is Decisive”

Luciano Spalletti spoke with Rai Sport to share his thoughts and feelings about his team’s performance in last night’s 4-1 defeat away to Napoli.

“I am sorry for the result, as are the players. We could have done more, we started well but we weren’t good enough at dealing with the pressure Napoli put us under. We gave the ball up too much and they scored goals as a result of that,” he started.

“In the second half we managed to do a little more and made the two strikers work but the gap between the two sides got bigger.

He then looked ahead to next weekend’s match against Empoli.

“It is decisive and in some ways it is similar to that of last year against Lazio.”

He was then asked if the Antonio Conte rumours have destabilised the team in recent weeks.

“I know what my job is, I have been doing it for twenty years now. It is clear that in preparing for games that some players lose concentration but the team must maintain lucidity even in these moments.”
