Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi believes that the Inter fans will have a huge role to play in Sunday’s match between Inter and Empoli at San Siro.

“I think the match will be difficult for Inter as Empoli are in great form and are playing very well at the moment. Up until three weeks Empoli looked like they would have been relegated to Serie B but I think that Inter can do it,” he began the interview with Corriere della Sera.

He then spoke on the potential impact the crowd could have on the match.

“I know the Inter fans well. If after the first 15 minutes the team are not doing well, they will begin to put pressure on them and it is sure that the team will go into trouble if players who have strong personalities aren’t on the field.”

“A match like the one with Empoli can only be won if there is a perfect union between the players and the fans. Inter’s fans are wonderful, no other Italian club has such a high average attendance.”
