Inter manager Luciano Spalletti and his opposite number at Empoli in Aurelio Andreazzoli will have to put their close friendship aside and become enemies when their sides meet on the final day of the Serie A season this weekend a report from Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera details.

Heading into the game, Inter need a win to secure Champions League football whilst the visiting Empoli need to win to secure their place in Serie A.

“Luciano Spalletti would never have thought of having to play for Champions League against Aurelio Andreazzoli, his roommate during coaching courses in Coverciano,” the report begins.

“Empoli come into the game galvanised by three consecutive victories, something that they had not been able to achieve since 2005. The road is still uphill but it is no longer a dream, but a concrete goal, thanks to Andreazzoli, who ended up in the Tuscan province thanks to Spalletti.”
