A name that has constantly been linked to Inter for the past few years is that of Manchester United’s Italian international full-back Matteo Darmian.

However, FcInterNews report that this is very unlikely despite the rumors.

Darmian has made a hundred official appearances with the Red Devils, but Matteo would like to return to Italy and he has not hidden this desire over the last few months, both privately and publicly in some interviews.

His agent, Tullio Tinti joined in on the action and tried to use his excellent relations with Beppe Marotta, who already wanted the player at Juventus.

In January, however, Inter preferred the cheaper option and went with Cedric, on a €1 million loan and an option to purchase set at €11 million, which obviously will not be exercised.

This Summer, however, Manchester United will be looking for a fee between €10-12 million for the Italian fullback. Inter owners Suning believe that is too much for a 30 year old player whose contract expires in a year.

The Nerazzurri were looking to pay €5-6 million for his signature, without forgetting that he earns €3 million net.

Antonio Conte is an admirer of Darmian, but considering how similar he is to Danilo D’Ambrosio, it appears that this is a story that is unlikely to have a happy ending.
